Apollo Whiskey Decanter
Apollo Whiskey Decanter
Ceramic whiskey decanter produced by McCoy Pottery in 1968. Commissioned by the Old Stanley Distillery (Thomas W. Sims Distillery), it was intended to hold Kentucky Bourbon whiskey. The decanter depicts the Apollo Command Module and was one of three types produced to commemorate the Apollo missions.Later versions of a Lunar Module and a decanter that depicted an astronaut were also produced. Of the three the Command Module version was most widely produced, as the other two had problems with their top seals. It highlights the amount of collectibles manufactured to mark America’s crowning achievement in space.
