Russian Space Food - Salted Almonds

Russian Space Food - Salted Almonds

Vacuum packed Russian space food bar containing salted almonds, from the early 1990s. This is an example of the kind of food that was eaten on the Mir space station.

Foods that are ready to eat such as fruit bars, nuts and biscuits are classified as natural form foods. They are usually packaged in flexible pouches that are cut open with scissors. Space food needed to be appetising, but also light-weight and nutritional.
