Carl Zeiss 'Focus from Outer Space' Booklet

Carl Zeiss 'Focus from Outer Space' Booklet

A collection of photographic slides depicting the highlights from the Gemini and Apollo space flights.

Published by the lens manufacturing company, Carl Zeiss, using the original NASA images, this commemorative booklet was produced shortly after the Apollo 11 Moon landing. It contains a set of slides stored inside individual plastic wallets.

Each slide is an iconic image from either Gemini or Apollo, including many of the most famous images this era of space exploration produced. All of the images were taken with lenses manufactured by Carl Zeiss on Hasselblad cameras, as Zeiss and Hasselblad were NASA’s preferred suppliers for photographic equipment.

Highlights include Edward White’s historic spacewalk on Gemini 4 and Buzz Aldrin on the Moon’s surface. The image chosen for the front cover of the booklet was taken some 112,000 miles away from Earth by the crew of Apollo 11 as it sped towards the Moon.
