Gemini 12 Mission Patch

Gemini 12 Mission Patch

This mission patch was designed to commemorate the final mission of the Gemini programme, flown by astronauts Jim Lovell and Buzz Aldrin.

Gemini 12 was due to launch around Halloween, although delays to the mission pushed the launch to November. The patch design though retains features that connect it to Halloween, including the gold, black, and orange colouring. The Gemini capsule points towards the Roman numeral for twelve as if on a clock face, to represent the fact that this was the last Gemini mission. A lunar crescent features on the left side of the patch, as the next set of missions to follow Gemini would be the Apollo Moon landings.

This particular patch was part of a collection of patches acquired by British-born professor of endocrine and metabolic surgery Anthony Goode, during his years working with NASA’s Life Sciences Division.
