This commemorative first day cover was signed by Tim Peake whilst aboard the International Space Station (ISS) to mark the 150th anniversary of the Royal Aeronautical Society.Seven of these limited edition set of stamps were signed by Tim in space, with this one being marked for presentation to the National Space Centre. The special covers were produced to mark Tim’s journey as the first British ESA astronaut on the ISS and depict eight stamp images from the Royal Aeronautical Society’s 150th anniversary collection showcasing cutting-edge science and technology over the last century and a half – from the conquest of air to current developments of the Trent jet engine and Tim’s Principia mission to the ISS.
Tim signed this object on 12 January 2016 – 150 years to the day that the Royal Aeronautical Society was founded. It has the official International Space Station stamp on it and was produced in a collaboration between the Royal Aeronautical Society and the Isle of Man Post Office. 150 extra sets were signed by Tim before his flight - these were put on general sale for collectors.
