Spacelab Mission 1 Patch
This mission patch was designed for the first Spacelab mission, which was flown aboard Space Shuttle mission STS-9 in 1983.The European reusable laboratory, known as Spacelab, was a collaboration between the European Space Agency (ESA) and NASA, which is reflected in the patch design. Spacelab was developed by ESA to be flown aboard the Space Shuttle and used to carryout experiments during missions.
This particular patch was part of a collection of patches acquired by British-born professor of endocrine and metabolic surgery Anthony Goode, during his years working with NASA’s Life Sciences Division.
