'Stars Shown to the Children' Hardback Book

'Stars Shown to the Children' by Ellison Hawks is an illustrated book for children, telling the story of stars, the Sun, and the planets of the solar system. It is volume nine in the 'Shown to the Children' series and is an interesting snapshot of astronomical knowledge in the early twentieth century - having been written before the discovery of Pluto.

Ellison Hawks was an Honourary Secretary of the Leeds Astronomical Society, Member of the British Astronomical Association and Membre de la Société Astronomique de France. He was a successful author of science and engineering books, writing and editing more than 30 in his lifetime. 'Stars shown to the Children' was his first literary work.
