Sindy Doll

An original Sindy doll from 1963. Sindy dolls sold in huge numbers in the 1960s and are an example of the sort of toy being played with as the Space Race unfolded between the USA and the Soviet Union.

Sindy was intended to rival Barbie. Sindy was designed to have a more 'girl next door feel' than her American rival, and for a long time was more popular in the UK market than Barbie.
