Thanks to the team at 23 Wine and Whiskey the National Space Centre is hosting the very first Leicester Whisky Festival. Our galleries will be filled with the very best brands, experts and distillers, in an evening dedicated to the “water of life”.

The 23 Wine and Whiskey team will also be adding a fantastic array of masterclasses, so if you want to delve deeper, make sure you upgrade your ticket to include a masterclass (or two).

Festival tickets are just £15 and include:
• Entry to the National Space Centre and food court (19:00 – 23:00)

23 Wine and Whiskey

Specialist independent retailer of Fine Wine & Whisk(e)y offer a fantastic range of whiskies, wines, fine spirits, from local and around the globe. Situated on Granby Street, in the heart of Leicester city centre, they have been trading since 2008, in fact they opened their doors on 17 November, so this Festival will celebrate their 10th anniversary!

Additional Masterclasses

Each Masterclass is hosted by a whisky expert, who will guide you through a session dedicated to specific brands and some rare, new and unique flavour experiences.

Whisky & Cheese matching with Glengoyne

Love cheese? Love Whisky? Than look no further.

Join us, for a 45- minute, flavour wheel insight of the world of Glengoyne. Sampling four, multi award winning single malts, from their range. Alongside, four specially chosen cheeses, pairing beautifully with each whisky age statement.

Tomatin Masterclass

Experience the softer side of the Highlands with an award-winning range of light, soft and fruity malts.

The line up will consist of 5 drams from their core, limited and exclusive range and will be conducted by Brand Development Manager Stan Reid:

• Tomatin 12 Year Old,
• Tomatin 14 Year Old,
• Tomatin 15 Year Old Moscatel finish,
• Tomatin 30 Year Old &
• Cu Bocan 2003

English Whisky Masterclass

The English Whisky Co. is housed in St. George’s Distillery in the Breckland area of Norfolk. Their mission is to produce the finest single malt whisky possible without using colours, flavours, or chill-filtering.

At least 6 different whiskies will be showcased at this masterclass, one of which is exclusive to 23 Wine and Whiskey:

• English Small Batch (Unpeated 11 yo – Cabernet Sauvignon Matured) Limited Release
• The English Smokey
• 23 Wine & Whiskey Exclusive cask
• Norfolk PX (Sherry & whisky liqueur)

Glenfiddich Masterclass

Family run since 1887, Glenfiddich are the world’s most awarded single malt Scotch whisky.

The Masterclass will include whiskies from the exciting experimental series. The line up will consist of:

• Glenfiddich 12
• Glenfiddich 15
• Glenfiddich Project XX
• Glenfiddich IPA
• Glenfiddich 21 year old

Buffalotrace Masterclass

Over 200 years of fine bourbon craftsmanship make Buffalo Trace the World’s Most Decorated Distillery.

The Tasting will consist of at least 5 whiskies from their range.

Ardbeg Masterclass

Ardbeg is the Ultimate Islay Malt – a whisky that’s worshipped around the world. It’s been described by Jim Murray as “Unquestionably the greatest distillery to be found on earth.”

Five Whiskies will be showcased:
• Ardbeg 10,
• Ardbeg An Oa,
• Ardbeg Uigedail,
• Ardbeg Corryvreckan and
• Ardbeg Grooves

Heaven Hill Masterclass

Shortly after Prohibition ended in the United States, Heaven Hill Distilleries, Inc., was founded in Bardstown, Kentucky by the Shapira family to produce and market Bourbon and premium American whiskeys. Currently America’s sixth-largest distilled spirits supplier.

Mackmyra Masterclass

Mackmyra Whisky is a Swedish single malt whisky distillery. It is named after the village and manor of Mackmyra, where the first distillery was established. Mackmyra ages in small, handmade casks made of Swedish oak. The selected casks are allowed to mature naturally in the quiet recesses of the cool underground warehouse.

This event is 18+ You may be asked for proof of age upon arrival.
Tickets must be purchased in advance.
You cannot buy Masterclass tickets without also having a general entry ticket.
The National Space Centre committed to promoting sensible and responsible drinking and to the provision of a safe and secure environment where Customers can meet, socialise and enjoy alcohol in a responsible manner.
Annual Passes are not valid.
We strongly suggest booking taxis in advance. If you drive to the event, you are free, at your own responsibility, to leave vehicles in the car park overnight.
We do not have facilities for caravans or mobile homes on site.
All tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.
