We Love Leicester, there we said it! We often get asked why we are in Leicester, so we are used to telling people that we are actually in Space City, and that the first Leicester-built instrument in space was launched aboard a Skylark rocket (we have one of those!) in 1961 and there has been at least one Leicester-built equipment operating in space every year since 1967 thanks to the University of Leicester.

But, what we know as a team based in this awesome city is that it really isn’t “Semper Eadem” (the motto of the city – always the same), but has so much to shout about, and so many reasons to visit.

So, if you are planning of a day trip to the National Space Centre why not add dinner after your visit, or stay over and enjoy a longer break in the city or county.

Each month we will share our personal favourites to help you plan…

Where to Eat

Did you know that in June 2024 Leicester was crowned 'England's Curry Capital'? We know this is a thoroughly deserved accolade, but here are our curry places we think you should visit:

  • Our Head of Marketing said; "Herb is my favourite go to for something different, affordable, tasty and vegetarian/Vegan. We took the Apollo 10 Mission Commanders there for dinner and the team were so welcoming and helpful, so I just keep going back and trying something new each time. It’s right in the centre of town, so you can enjoy lots of street food faves at Herb and then walk over to Gelato Village for dessert for my perfect evening out."

Where to Stay

We work with the Belmont Hotel for all our event guests because it is a great family-run independent hotel, but also because they are located on the beautiful Victorian New Walk, has lots of free parking, a great breakfast, and even a space themed family bedroom!

We had some of our Doctor Who guests and it was a great base for those arriving by train, it’s just a five minute walk from the station, but we also had lots of options for dinner close by (we went to Mitzuki, which is a fantastic Japanese restaurant – book it in advance if you want to go there 😉 ).
